The Jawa rivals the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda H'ness CB350 and Benelli Imperiale 400.
To commemorate 50 years of India's victory in the 1971 war against Pakistan and as part of its ForeverHeroes initiative, Jawa Motorcycles has introduced two new colour options -- Khakhi and Midnight Grey -- for its modern classic Jawa. The Jawa Khakhi and the Jawa Midnight Grey are priced at Rs 1,93,357 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
According to Jawa Motorcycles, the Jawa Khakhi signifies the spirit of selfless service to the nation by the men in uniform, while the Jawa Midnight Grey is inspired by the Battle of Longewala. Both colour options come with a commemorative emblem on the fuel tank that showcases the Indian Army insignia surrounded by a 'laurel wreath' symbolising the country's victory in the 1971 war. Jawa Motorcycles claimed that it is the first manufacturer to be allowed to do so on a production bike.
The Jawa Khakhi and the Jawa Midnight Grey are finished in matte and feature an all-black theme. The engine has brushed fins giving a contrasting touch. The rims have been blacked out as well. Other updates include redesigned seat pan, retuned suspension and frame set-up, retuned exhaust note and the addition of a trip meter.
At the heart of the Jawa Khakhi and the Jawa Midnight Grey is the same 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that is employed by the standard Jawa. Delivering 27.33PS of maximum power and 27.02Nm of peak torque, the engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The Jawa Khakhi and the Jawa Midnight Grey are available with dual-channel ABS as standard. There is no single-channel ABS variant on offer. The standard Jawa gets both single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS variants in Black, Grey and Maroon colour options.
